Ticket to Work

The Social Security Administration has a program, called Ticket to Work. It supports those ages 18-64 who want to work, and who also receive Social Security disability benefits, SSDI or SSI. This voluntary and free program is for those who are eligible and who want to advance professionally, by working with statewide and national providers in accessing the services needed to find employment and work. They provide job coaching, transportation, assistance with going back to school and more.
Under the Ticket to Work program, you are able to keep your benefits while looking for work, receive training in specific trades and even gain work experience. Your benefits, along with Medicare or Medicaid continue while you transition into a work environment. If for some reason you are not able to continue to work because of your disability there are protections in place for you as well.
The Ticket to Work program may not be a fit for everyone, but it is worth looking into if you would like to work.
