More on The Role of Health Care Providers and School Officials in The Disability Claim Process – Electronic Records Express

April 20, 2020

Electronic Records Express is offered by Social Security and state Disability Determination Services (DDS) to for submission of disability claims, health and school records, by electronic means.

Once a request is made for health, school records or other pertinent information about a person who is applying for Social Security disability benefits, you have a couple of options for sending the requested information:

There is no cost to send the records. However, if there is a volume of records needing to be sent, then there is an option called Secure Bulk Transfer, and this is not a free service. Records sent are automatically linked to the applicant's disability claim folder, via online to Social Security's secure website or by fax.

If you choose to use the secure website, please know there is a user ID and password that will be necessary as the website has restricted access. You will probably want to contact the Social Security Electronic Records Express (ERE) Help Desk Monday through Friday, at (877)-405-3624 or (866)-691-3061 between the hours of 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. You can reach them by email at [email protected] or [email protected] for further information as well. If needed you may also contact the local Hearing Office in your area and speak with telephone representatives who can further answer any questions.
